Pacu jalur is a Festival at Indonesia, a rowing boat competition held in Kuantan Singingi Regency (Kuansing), Riau Province. It is a race (Pacu) rowing boat (Jalur) typical of the West Sumatra and Central Sumatra regions. Pacu Jalur is usually followed by 25-60 rowers who are also commonly called pacu children. "Pacu" means race and "Jalur" means boat.
It is said that Pacu Jalur has existed since the 17th century. Starting from the use of Jalur (Boat) as the most important means of transportation in the area along the Kuantan river, because the land route is still difficult to pass. At that time, people who owned Jalur were only nobles and regional rulers. After a hundred years later, the people got creative by making the Jalur interesting and decorating the Jalur (Boat) and holding a boat race and called Pacu Jalur.
Pacu Jalur is not just a race, there are values contained in it. As in life, we cannot live only by ourselves, no matter how good we are at living alone at least we need farmers to be able to enjoy rice and vegetables, need fishermen to enjoy fish, and even people who can plant also need office workers to shop. There is no work that is not important, everything is interconnected. Pacu Jalur also relies on cooperation, nothing is unimportant. All positions are equally important, requiring poise, hard work, tenacity, agility, cohesiveness, and the grace to accept defeat.

The construction of the Jalur goes through a long process.
Before starting the plan to make a Jalur, a village meeting is first held, attended by various elements such as traditional leaders, scholars, mothers and youth. It is usually led by a traditional leader. When the creation of a Jalur is agreed upon, only then is the process continued.
Pacu jalur was originally just a leisure activity for the community after the harvest. With a makeshift prize, which is a kind of cake called godok to be eaten by many people, this Jalur race is also called Pacu Godok.
